Bice's Regional Delegation for Asia

For more than 10 years, Bice has been working in Asia to promote the dignity and the rights of the child, maintaining a focus on the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

Poverty, marginalization, exclusion, and violence, are all recurring themes in the lives of children in Asia. Each year, millions are affected by the changing and diverse political, social, and economic environments in the region. As a result, they become vulnerable and deprived of their basic rights (school, privacy, health care, etc.), unable to achieve full physical, mental, social, moral and spiritual development (CRC art.27).

However, children have plenty of significant inner resources. Bice's approach is to recognise each child as unique, meriting unconditional acceptance and possessing strengths and resources that can be uncovered and developed through listening and encouragement. Children are the primary actors of their own lives. By developing resilience, they can be supported to rediscover their self-esteem and confidence in life.

Bice in Asia works with members and partners in Cambodia, India, Nepal, Thailand and the Philippines by supporting projects in the field, acting as a platform for exchange and reflection, and developing regional and international advocacy strategies through Bice's permanent representation in Geneva.

Its three main areas of work are Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, Early Childhood Care and Development, and Children Affected by Armed Conflict.
