Asian Regional Seminar Cambodia

Asian Regional Seminar

Cambodia - September 2008

Network reinforcement among Bice Asian partners

Participants coming from five different countries, cultures and foreign languages, but everybody working with the same line of action: The prevention from and recovery of child sexual abuse and exploitation through the promotion of resilience and community empowerment.

From 30 August to 05 September the partners of Bice Delegation for Asia met in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, to attend a seminar entitled "Promoting resilience in children and their parents." All 25 participants were working towards two key objectives: to reflect on their field work under the resilience perspective and to foster good practices and the exchange of information, ideas, and skills among the Bice Asian partners.

The seminar in Cambodia was an excellent opportunity for organizations to share their experiences, strengthen relationships, generate new knowledge and strategies for improving action. By understanding the legal, political and socio-economic context of each other, participants could better understand the conditions in which a practice has worked well and why.

The work developed by network members and the Bice Delegation for Asia is based on the same approach and vision: the promotion of resilience and community-based action. The ambition and enthusiasm of all participants contributed to forming a positive group dynamic and the overall success of the event.
