Le foyer de l'Amitié a été fondé en 1979 à Zalhé, Békaa, une région particulièrement touchée par la guerre, pour être au service de l'homme et de l'enfance dans une perspective d'ouverture, de solidarité et de développement. Le travail a commencé pour aider des enfants victimes de la guerre. L'ampleur des besoins et le dynamisme de l'équipe de travail ont amené au développement de programmes diversifiés et complémentaires, élargissant la vocation initiale du Foyer, aux domaines de l'enseignement, de l'éducation, de la formation, de l'insertion professionnelle.
