Public services such as health care, education and infrastructure rehabilitation are scarce in remote areas, and many children live in extreme poverty, with no opportunity for education and health care nor information regarding access to these services. These factors increases the vulnerability of children and youths to child labor, child sexual abuse, child trafficking, drug use, and prostitution in or outside the country.
The project
The project
"Smiling Cambodian Children" will provide basic education to children in remote areas (Moung Russey and Ek Phnom districts of Battambang province) and promote general awareness on children rights, child labor, child sexual abuse, child exploitation, and domestic violence at all levels of the communities, including local authorities, police, and other stakeholders. The project also advocates at local (district), provincial, and national levels to raise the problems of children in these areas and seek solutions, and make sure that they enhance children's rights and pay more attention to the victims.
The main concern is the promotion of education as it lays the foundation for the creation and development of a country.
